travel insurance
how do I become an appointed representative or introducer?
Whichever your preferred choice, we will need to know some details about your travel programme and the insurance needs of your customers.
In order to help us fully understand your requirements and to make an assessment of how we can provide the right policy for your customers we will need you to complete an application form and provide copies of your promotional literature, including brochures. Our travel insurance team will speak with or meet with you, to establish exactly what you and your customers require and to discuss the best sales method for you, either direct sales or referring your customers to our call centre. This can lead to personalised training and desk aides for your staff covering everything they will need to know to sell or refer correctly, with confidence and within the regulations.
The next stage is to move to a written quotation and this will include a tailored insurance solution, the period of the scheme, schedules of cover and policy wordings with any special terms and conditions, a statement of demands and needs, the premiums that will be quoted and the commissions due to you following any sales.
For appointed representatives and introducers, the FSA require us to carry out a fit and proper review, which will look into the history and the finanicial stability of the organisation, and its owners and management. During the review for appointed representatives an approved person will be selected as the person responsible with the organisation and the main point of contact for us.
Our partnership is formalised by an agreement, signed by each party and will set out each of our responsibilities during the period of the agreement. Formal notification is sent to the FSA and this will officially bring you under tgic’s permissions as either an appointed representative or introducer.
We don’t then forget about you. We will continue to support you, keeping up to date with your training and sales needs. Regular contact and review will ensure you are selling at your full potential and in full compliance with the regulations.
